I'm getting ready to go buy a 21" iMac at my local apple store. But I want the keyboard with the number keys. Do the just swap out the wireless keyboard with a wired number one?

has anybody had them give you the wired keyboard and not remove the wireless one from the iMac box? ;)

...the wired keyboards with number pad were discontinued so they are discounted... purchase it separately and keep the BT keyboard it comes with...

They are not discontinued, simply no longer shipped as standard in computer box. They are still available on Apple's webstore and as a a build-to-order option when buying a new Mac. They should also still be available from any reseller (or at least those who can be bothered to stock them).

I don't know about at a proper high street Apple Store since we don't have any in New Zealand, but I've been told by a couple of different resellers that they can't simply swap the keyboards. That means either buying a build-to-order Mac (which some resellers will do for you) or buying a separate wired keyboard at extra cost. :(
