I wonder if this is the style Apple will use on the upcoming MBPs. Based on photos its diameter is a little larger than the width of a USB-C port so it would need to be slimmed down unless the laptops get thicker.

Or a much more reasonable explanation: the rumored "MagSafe" was simply this iMac connector. Period. There is no way this monstrosity is coming to Mac laptops.
