None of the aftermarket guys like OWC have their preorder/new specs up yet for the new iMac.

Any idea if it maxes out at 32GB for the memory? Looked around but can't find anything other than the 27 is user upgradable. But not by how much.

Thanks

32 GB, since that is the limit of the chipset: http://ark.intel.com/products/65719/Intel-Core-i7-3770-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz

And also know, that while the 27" 2012 iMac is RAM upgradeable and has four slots, only 8 GB 204-pin DDR3 SO-DIMM RAM modules exist, thus 32 GB is still the limit. Once 16 GB modules arrive, you might be able to test it with more, but by then new Intel chips with more maximum RAM will be available by then.

The 21.5" isn't user upgradable. The 27 inch has 4 user upgradable slots, which means that it will take 4 sticks of 1600MHz laptop memory, a standard part that isn't special to Macs, and you can buy right now from anywhere.

4x8GB= 32GB max RAM in the 27 inch. 16 GB sticks aren't really ubiquitous yet, and I'm not sure that the chipset in the 2012 iMac would support them either.

yeah knew the entry level iMac was not upgradeable. Wasn't sure on the max ram of the 27" though.

Thanks.
