Either mine is broken or I have no clue how to use a slot load disc drive on a Mac. The latter is most likely but when I stick a disc in the slot nothing happens. I mean I almost manually inserted the disc all the way before I figured maybe I should look up why it won't take it. Any advice. This has been a bad first Mac day.

The iMac's drive doesn't swallow the disc until it's nearly fully inserted.

thank you, yeah you really have to push it all the way in for it to take it. Just had to trust it was going to work. Every other slot load I have ever used takes the disc about half way. Problem solved.

Yes, I totally understand, both my Macbook and my iMac shocked me to see that I had to push the disc in almost completely before it swallowed the disc, don't worry, it's working correctly. :)

Just be careful with the insert, doing it when you are tired or not paying attention can leave some nasty scratches with the sharp edged aluminum around the opening.
