New iMac - Spotlight not working

Or am i being dumb and it's needs to activated in some way?

Searching through the Mag Glass in the menu bar (which is greyed out not blue as i thought it should be) or through a Finder window shows No Results Found.

have you looked in system pref.? i dont know a way to disable spotlight completely, but if nothing is selected in the spotlight pref. pane, then i would expect that to stop spotlight from working.

Hi Iwuzboard,

All the Searh Results options are ticked in Sys Prefs.

Delete: ~/Library/Prefferences/com.apple.spotlight.plist
Restart Mac
Open Terminal (Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app)
In terminal type: sudo mdutil -E /
