I currently have a 2010 MBP that backs up to an older TC that has 530GB of 998GB available.
Q#1 When I get the new iMac home will the TC allow me to migrate the recent MBP backup to the new iMac so that everything is the same on the two machines?

Q#2 Will the TC back up both machines separately?

Q#3 What if I order a BTO from apple and it comes with Lion and my MBP is running Snow Leopard? Can I still migrate?

I apologize if these questions seem very elementary but I have spent days on the forums searching but there seems to be SOOOO much info it's hard to sort it all out.

Many Thanks

Q#2 Will the TC back up both machines separately?

Sorry I don't have direct knowledge of the migration questions (though I *think* it will work). But assuming the machines have different names, I am quite sure that Time Machine (the software) will back up both machines separately to the Time Capsule (the hardware). They should be backed up to separate .sparsebundle files, the filename of which will include the machine name.

Brian,

Thank you for the info.
It is greatly appreciated having not gone through this.
We'll find out soon.

Cheers,
Gabby
