Has anyone seen this? My new iMac will never timeout and sleep (or at least, never turn monitor off). It WILL sleep if I command it to, but not after the time period specified in the energy preferences.

Even if I have "turn display off after..." and choose one minute, the monitor never shuts off.

any ideas?

Likely an application you're running preventing it from doing so.

turns out "wake for network access" was the culprit

Glad you got it sorted. There are a few 3rd party apps out there prevent sleep from kicking in. uTorrent is one of them, despite it having an option in preferences it still seems to prevent sleep.
