New iMacs have dimmer brightness?

I don't know if its just me, I remember using older iMac models and the brightness was really bright, now this new 21" doesn't seem to be as bright at full settings. Between like 75 to 100% there seems to be not much difference, and anything below that starts to get really dim...

I plan to use it for a while, after some years will it get more dimmer due to LEDs lifespan?

Did i get a bad display?

I posted a question some time ago in regards to this and I tried everything Pram, SMC and other things.

As things were getting worse, one day, my display started totally fading on one side, and it became obvious to me that the problem had become a hardware problem. I brought it into genius bar, showed them that my display and they replaced the back lights and LCDscreen on warranty. Since then, it pretty well behaves.. Sometimes I think that the instructions that the hardware are getting to dim or brighten are actually causing the hardware ie back lighting to degrade.
