I bought a 320 series intel ssd from newegg.com, was supposed to be brand new, but this is what the underside of the drive looks like which I thought was a little strange, it almost looks like someone took a wire brush to it.

Also, the box didnt come with shrink wrap over it which I thought was a little weird as well.

can anyone else who bought an intel ssd from newegg confirm that this is how the drive is supposed to come?

just a word of caution... you might want to avoid working on an open laptop in a carpeted area to lower the risk of static discarge

EDIT: also i got mine from amazon and i recall the bottom looking similar to that

whoops.

and thats good to know that it looked similar, can anyone comment on the retail box not being shrink wrapped?

i dont think my box was shrinkwrapped, but the drives antistatic sleeve definitely had one of those anti tampering labels on it

oh yeah true, i guess thats more important than anything else.

well, my mind is at ease now.

also, how do i look up what my read/write speeds are?

My two 320 boxes weren't shrink wrapped but as long as the inside anti static is sealed ur good.

As far as the appearance that's just for show to give it that rugged tuned and tested look.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Mine came without being shrink-wrapped and with the used look.

it's the brushed look. it's actually normal too. intel doesn't shrink wrap their boxes, but they're sealed on one side with serial info and the other size is not sealed.

i've installed 100+ and they all vary. but i can tell you every single one was inside an anti-static bag sealed inside the boxes.
