I am looking at buying a new internal hard drive for my MacBook Pro. At this time I back up my computer using Time Machine. Does Time Machine back up the PC side of the computer formatted as a Windows NT File System? How would I back the full system to be able to install a new hard drive? Any recommendations on hard drives over 500 GB?

your best bet is to use CarbonCopy

as for HDD you can never go wrong with a Western Digital Scorpio Black

Another vote for carbon copy cloner. It was one of the easiest things I've ever done when installing new hardware and I was very impressed. What's even more surprising is that it's free.

As for the hard drive, go for a Hitachi 500 GB 7200 rpm. I've had nothing but bad experiences with WD.

well apparently someone has gone wrong with WD haha. im sure someone has gone wrong with pretty much every manufacturer of HDD.

i recommend you do some research of your own and buy the one that you feel is the best based on that. But now you at least have two manufacturers to start with
