Opinions needed, should I upgrade my internal hard drive or get another external and use that as back up? I would daisy chain the second external to the one I already own. Thanks

How about an external hard drive with Airport Extreme? You could have one for backup or one for your media.

I do like the Airport Extreme and like it, but I have not used the Airdisk yet.

definitely external. you pay thru the nose per gb with lappy drives.

look into assembling your own though - could save u some $$$. it's real easy - buy the case and then just shove the hd inside and there ya go!! get a cheap external case with firewire 400 and the biggest disk you can afford.

get a big fat external I love G-technology. a bit pricier, but the most reliable drives we've ever used. we haven't had great luck with LaCie HDs

Neither company makes HDs. Also, I have had zero failures with LaCie. I can only report 1 complaint; their original 1TB triple interface drive was noisy if it was close to you.

do you know what drives they use?

fw400 enclosures are usually more pricier than the usb2.0 ones :(

lacie was awful for me.

personally i'd rather assemble my own as I know what hard drive goes in there, and that means a lot to me.

Thanks, I think I will go with another 500gb ministack. I built the first one, I didn't know if it will help the computers performance out with a bigger internal HD.
