new IPAD buyer-can I add AppleCare+ after I buy?

I just bought 2 new IPADS both 64GB w/4G and Wi Fi. One of each color. I bought the AppleCare+ for my wifes IPAD but forgot to add it to the one I bought for my daughter. Can I add AppleCare+ when I receive the IPAD on the 16th?

you can buy applecare+ within 30 days of the original purchase, though i think you need to set up a genius appointment with apple so that they can confirm the ipad is in good condition.
