Hi All..

Quick question for those of you who are saying that some smart covers or cases don't work with the new iPad.. does it still attach and function properly other than the sleep/wake function?

I have a third party smart cover and just wanted to know if it will still function as screen protection for the time being, or should I buy another case? Picking up the beauty tomorrow afternoon!

Cheers.
Leigh

Yeah I know.. I was just wondering if they still clipped on and still functioned as a case / cover even if the sleep/wake feature didn't work.

Hoping so!

i have targus it doesn't work. Marware ceo has no problem. Apple slighly moved sensor.

Ion Carbon Cover

Case fits but sleep function doesn't, just a matter of waiting for the case manufacturers to work out where the new magnets are located.

I bought two Targus slims for my two IPADSand neither one of them put the scene to sleep unless I manipulate the cover. Back it goes

Question for smart Cover owners, is it supposed to "stick" to the back too? Like when it is open and folded to the back. Mine doesn't and it's really annoying to hold with my left hand and have the cover hanging halfway off. I'm thinking about returning it..

I never had an iPad 2 but don't remember this being a problem with a friends iPad I played with sometimes.

You mean the right, loose edge? Mine clicks into the back ever so slightly, but doesn't take too much to knock it off. Not that big of a deal for me.

Is that on the new iPad?

Yeah the right side. I can feel a bit of pull but it will fall off at any angle whatsoever. I really might go to the apple store tomorrow to see if they all do it.

checking sleep/wake is like making certain the refrigerator light goes out when you close the door.

I peeked under the apple cover and it works:D

I received my new iPad, upgraded from 1st gen iPad. I also ordered the smart cover, and I found that it won't hold the iPad in the upright (landscape) orientation. The supporting "triangle" collapses and the iPad falls over. Could this be an issue that the covers were designed for the weight of the iPad 2 and the 3rd gen one is just heaver enought to be an issue?

Or am I just not doing it right?

I bought one from Apple at the same time as newPad and unsurprisingly it works just fine. I think there may be some issues with a few OEM/3rd party iPad 2 covers when used with newPad.

You have to fold it so that the soft felt side is facing outwards, not inwards. Otherwise the magnets don't hold well.
