All iPads new iPads able to RECEIVE Apple Pay?

Does anyone know if the new iPads will be able to receive Apple Pay? Using it like a Square system? Does Apple have any plans for this?

The iPads don't have NFC. The only ApplePay it does is through the App Store.

Erm, not true, you can use ApplePay on an iPad with any online vendor that supports it. Examples given on the Apple site include Uber and Target. It just doesn't have the NFC you'd need to use the contactless terminals in a physical store.
