Hello, on friday I picked up a 3G iphone to upgrade from my GSM model. My old gsm iphone was 2.01 and the new 3G phone was 2.0 and when I tried to restore the new 3G phone with the backup from my old phone, it wouldn't let me. Can anyone help me with this process? Thank you.

I have. It told me that the restore was too old and had to set up as though it was a new iPhone. Very annoying as I lost notes, Spalsh ID Passwords, You Tube favourites, Weather, Clock and Stock.

Would be useful to know if there was a workaround.

Sorry I can't help.

You could probably put your 3G into DFU mode so you can force it to upgrade to 2.0.1 before attempting a backup restore.
