My wife and I have brand new iPhone 4's and think the sound from the ear piece is muffled. I can't figure out if there is something wrong or just how it is suppose to be. Any hints. Just doesn't sound right on both our phones.

Have you taken the protective plastic coating off the front of your phones? Believe it or not many people do not realize or forget and this causes the problem.

Are you using the same headphones on both iPhones?

Have you tried alternative headphones?

Have you compared other iPhones, using your headphones?

Has anyone else experienced the same sound on your iPhone with their headphones?

What happens if you play back on the speaker, still muffled?

You need to work out if it's the headphones or the iPhones causing the problem.

Sounds obvious I know and you may have done this, but need to be clear!

I guess it is not the mic, my mistake, it is the ear piece.
