I have found an interesting thing. I just purchased an iPhone 6+. 
When I plugged it into my Anker USB 13 port hubs, Anker AH232, with the VL812-B2 chipset, and a similar Anker USB 3.0 SuperSpeed 10-Port Hub. I found it would sync, and charge from every port not just the smart port with the chipset enabling it. My iPad Air (1), iPod Touch 5 do not if I want to sync them using the cable I still have to plug it into one of the other ports. I goes without saying all of these devices have the latest iOS 8.2 software. Happy, Happy,
