Apple has posted a new iPhone commercial,'Game Changer', to their ad gallery. Continuing the theme of highlighting individual apps from the App Store, the commercial focuses on MLB.com At Bat, which allows users to follow Major League Baseball games on the iPhone and iPod touch. The app provides real-time pitch data, box scores, and play-by-play, as well as video highlight clips.

The commercial's release comes as the Major League Baseball playoffs are well underway, with the World Series set to begin on October 22nd.

See the product description in the App Store and the reviews. This is 2.99 for a subscription that ends with the 2008 season. I'm not sure I like that model.

I still can't get over the fact that these iPhone ads are not watchable on the iPhone! They don't advertise that fact, just that it can access all parts of the Internet. Something is really off with those two things together.

Well worth it IMO and I am sure many others. I will definitely be renewing my subscription at the end of the season.

I wish there was something like this for the NHL :/

Hint to all developers...

This commercial is not new, at least to those who have been watching the playoffs.....

But anyhow, I will buy it next season, when it will mean more to me..

What's funny is that the actual new ad that I saw two nights ago (I think while watching Chuck maybe) isn't even on the Apple site yet. It shows two iPhones side by side with various pictures and the voice over says something about things that go good together while one iPhone user flicks to a picture of a hammer and the other flicks to a nail, then the first guy clicks to the peanut butter half of a sandwich while the next one flick to the jelly half (there were several other photos they showed as well.) It ends with a picture of Apple on one iPhone and AT&T on the other.

Kind of silly compared to the others...

Apple could have WAY BETTER television commercials than the ones they have right now. A bunch of my friends and myself have iPhones and we see that they are so much more cool and more useful than the lame Apple commercials make them out to be. For starters, ditch the lame music and dorky hand model, and get some teenagers or college-age people to do your ads. In the commercials, don't just make a demo; show people actually using the phone. Show some teenagers texting with the keyboard, show someone using the GPS maps, show a group of friends getting reading info off of a webpage. Show more than just the phone! Show PEOPLE USING THE PHONE. They will sell so many more phones if they do this.

Which would make a better commercial ...

Yeah I agree. Apple needs to use more boobage and pretty girls to successfully lure young horny teenagers into buying iPhones.

The iPhone MLB ad is actually one of their best ones ever. The MLB ad focuses on attracting legions of sports lovers, especially since this is currently BASEBALL SEASON with the World Series about this time of year. It is perfect timing, and Apple knew it. You have no freakin idea how many bazillions of sports lovers actually are addicted to looking up minute-by-minute sports updates and scoreboards while they are .... at work. I know they do this at our company, using company computers to look up the latest scores of their favorite baseball teams during the playoffs. Thus, this is a perfectly good way to lure them onto iPhones.

And this is coming from me... who hates watching baseball (it's a boring spectator sport, I prefer basketball), but I'm stuck being friends and co-workers with too many dipsticks who are hardcore baseball fans. So I know for a fact that all my baseball-loving friends and co-workers would have been lured by this iPhone ad. They would have said.... "Holy smokes... wow, the iPhone can do THAT!??!!"

I dont know bout u but I CAN watch them on my iPhone.. I click on the link and a QuickTime player pops up.. it loads a little and then I can just watch it like a normal video in the iPod app!

Wait, is there even an iPhone in that second picture? ;)

Better late than never I suppose but I think they probably should have released this commercial about 3 weeks ago...

I'm sorry, but $2.99 for scores, updates, something that should be FREE ???

And in fact, I think you can already get all this info free from other FREE apps!

And you wonder why MLB is no longer America's pastime? There ya go.

Hot chicks are definitely a great marketing tool, but in this case they are completely unnecessary. The whole idea they are trying to put across is that the iPhone itself is cool and multifunctional. Lesser products need T & A because they don't do all the cool stuff the iPhone does.

Not that I'd mind seeing more boobs on TV; I just don't think we'll be seeing them from Apple as long as they're selling millions of the things each month.

Lol. I don't think my original post said they would be in bikinis (although I would not complain if the were :D ). I just meant make the commercials of regular people using the phone, instead of some creepy hand model demoing the phone. (yeah, you try spelling "demoing!" LOL!)

Nice ad but at the totally wrong time of year.
Also when I bought At Bat I do not remember it saying anything about only being for the 2008 season. That is a right pain and yes calling it a rip-off isn't that far off the mark really.

I use ScoreMobile for game scores and that covers more than just MLB, and it's free!

There is an iPhone 3G commercial where there are two iPhones side by side and the hand scrolls through pics that match like a pencil and pad of paper, and it talks about how the iPhone and AT&T's 3G network are perfect together..... LOL HAaaaa BS, AT&T's 3G network SUCKS and they better get it fine tuned fast. I am sooo sick of dropping calls literally 5 times a day. Anyway..... why is that commercial not on the Apple site with the rest? It is also the only one that shows the orange AT&T logo screen at the end instead of the white one in all the other commercials. Anybody know what I'm talking about?
