If this backplate on the new iPhone is true, do you think maybe its wireless charging?

No it's probably for NFC..youll be rubbing and bumping up against NFC payment terminals.

I the probability is near-field meant is higher then wireless charging. The fact that the rumor involves a smaller dock slot makes the whole leak a bit dubious though.

Is it not a revised antenna design? The iPhone still needs improving in this area.

I do agree, one area that still needs work is the antenna.

While my 4S, makes calls just like my 3GS did, my iPhone 4 was useless in all but the most optimum areas, I'd still like a better telephone experience.

No...i meant the phisical action of pushing your phone against something is why we have brushed alu instead of glass.

I don't see NFC or wireless charging from Apple for another year or two. NFC is nice but until Apple sets it up so users can bill to their iTunes accounts or make it compatible with ISIS or some other payment system then it won't happen.

We know Apple will not make their NFC work with Google Wallet or PayPal systems.

If this backplate on the new iPhone is true, do you think maybe its wireless charging?

No.

1. People want a "new" design.
2. People don't want glass because it breaks
3. People don't want ALL aluminum because it kills the wireless signals
4. People don't want plastic because it's "cheap".

If Wireless signal could go through aluminum, the entire backplate would be aluminum.
