new iphone does not recognise senders address

I am trying to get my wife's new iPhone up and running, everything is fine except, in mail it does not recognise the sender's address, either when replying or a new e mail, she has a .mac account, a macbook. All of the account info is correct, I tried restore, at the end I clicked from back up as opposed set up as new.
