New iPhone Family sync contacts and calendar.

My wife and I are picking our iPhone 4's up today. How can we sync our shared contacts, i.e. family members, and calendars with eachothers phones.

Do I have to have 2 separate accounts on my iMac and share it all there? Create 2 gmail accounts etc...
