The next significant software update for Apple Inc.'s iPhone handset is unlikely to surface until early next year but will pack a system-wide search feature when it finally does arrive, according to information obtained by investment bank Piper Jaffray

Munster, who tapped his own sources for the tidbit, says the feature will enable users to easily locate contacts, emails, phone numbers, or calendar events through a single search interface on the touch-screen handsets.

I'm actually starting to look forward to 2008 more and more I might even get the ultra portable thing if it's appealing . I haven't owned a portable mac since ..hmm rev A Titanium PowerBook G4 ?

That doesnt excite me as much though. Hopefully my iPhone will last longer than just a year and 9 months or w.e. the deal is. I dont wanna go buying a 400doller phone every two years. I guess i wont mind with the SDK though. I am looking forward to what comes with time, both software and hardware.
