Don't know if anyone read the engadget post today but some clever developers have come up with the iControlPad.

This is just a prototype but according to the developers the final version will be sleeker and have both a start and select buttons.

Should be a nice addition when software 2.0 comes out (and I assume this will be made for both the original and 3G iphones)

hey wow.... thats definitely different to what a lot of us were thinking when the game pad was mentioned before...

so instead of making it look bulky... they'll make it look like a PSP instead!

im sure it will go down pretty well though....
(heres hoping the have a dock connector on the outside of it as well.... so you can charge the damn thing!)

Wonder if it will be universally compatible with any cases...or if I decided that I liked it enough to actually use it, if I'd have to keep taking my case on and off. Maybe if they designed one with some sort of adapter than allowed use with a variety of cases. Well, anyway, neat concept, but I don't think I'll be trying it. More power to the creator though. Not a bad idea.

The controller becomes a case.

My version allowed for external charging and external amplified sound. Sadly, I do not have the resources and time to implament it.

Understood. But the point I was making is that I like my case. I put a lot of time and effort into designing it the way I want it. I wouldn't want to keep that game pad thing on there all the time anyway. It's not very attractive. LoL. ;)

I would wait for the final design to pass judgment on the design.

They claim it will be more sleek.

;) Don't get me wrong, I'm not putting it down. Just saying I wouldn't want to walk around with any added bulk on my iPhone (oustide of my case of course). For all of those that would enjoy it, more power to ya! I'm just not a huge "on phone gamer." LoL. I think it's a great idea. Just merely stating that it wouldn't be of any practical use for myself, but for others it may be great! :D

There will have to be some excelllent games on the app store to make this worthwhile. Good idea though

They updated their renderings ...

Looks good to me ....

Just wonder if it will support the new iphone.

I like it! I hope "EarthBound" for SNES can be played on it.
:D That's the greatest game in history!!

I gotta say even with the updated renderings, it still looks pretty cheap.
I love the idea, but they need a much better design for this to really be worth getting.
