Finally got the email from the Apple Store at the Summit that my phone was available for pick-up. I wanted to do an upgrade swap with my wife -- ditch her original iphone, use her upgrade to get the i4 for me, and give her my 3GS.
Pickup went smoothly at the apple store, but they couldn't do the swap portion of the transaction. I was little upset that everything couldn't be done at the Summit so I headed to the AT&T store on Lakeshore -- what a great experience there! The service was better there than at the apple store -- friendly and surprising knowledgeable staff! It seemed that the entire staff in the AT&T store were iphone users and regular readers of macrumors and many other sites.
