New iPhone in late August

I will be needing to buy a new phone in the last week of August when I move to the US. It seems like the iPhone 5 will only come out the next month.

Does anyone have advice on whether there would be a possibility for buying at that time on either US carrier (AT&T or Verizon) and still have the option to exchange for the new iPhone when it comes out?

just use your old phone until the new one comes out!
I can't help with your question about the possibility to exchange but I don't think so!

All rumors right now, no one knows when it will come out.

Best thing to do would be either 1) Get the current iPhone or 2) Use what you have currently and wait for new one (rumored to be released around September).
