When you activate a new iPhone on a new AT&T account does AT&T:

1-Assign you a number from what is available?
2-Allow you to select a number from what is available?
3-Allow you to use any number you like?

Thanks.

I don't know that iPhone is any different, but when I signed up with Cingular and T-Mobile back in the day, they just assigned you one, and you could call customer service and get another one if you wanted. The first time I didn't, second time I did. You had to use a number with a prefix for that area code, so you couldn't get anything.
