New iPhone pictured on Apple's updated .mac site?

The last two photos (they happen to be the same image) in the gallery show the iPhone with a much wider speaker hole at the top, and the home button with the word "menu".

Could this be the second gen iPhone, or maybe a European version?

The AT&T logo is also wrong (it's lowercase). I'd guess it's an graphic from an older model, not a newer one.

If it was a european version. it wouldn't say "menu".

Also notice how no buttons are protruding from any side, and the ring around the screen is matte instead of chrome.

Apple usually doesn't make 'mistakes' like this. I'm calling my bookie to place my bets on a new/upgraded model by winter.

Now the true question is, how much will my Rev.A fetch on ebay?

Interesting, but I doubt it means anything. Marketing probably ended up getting an older mock-up image and used it by mistake. If Apple had a new iPhone in the offing, don't you think they would've announced it today, along the the new iMacs and iLife?

The old iPhone pictures had the wrong proportions and made it look quite different. This has probably just gone unnoticed again.

I know all current Iphones use AT&T, but the correct logo for the new AT&T post SBC/Cingular/Bell South mergers is supposed to be smaller case at&t.

Why would Apple use a rendering when they've had the phone since Janurary?
Seems weird to be using a rending, when they have dozens of images all over their site.

We are talking about the company that accidentally leaked iWork08.

Why would they remove it so quick if it was just a rendering?

There is no way in hell that Apple would put out a product with the word Menu on the only button on the whole phone. Steve Jobs would have a coronary!

I think we're talking about the image on the right, right? It's intriguing. Why the discrepancies?

Yes, almost *all* of Apple's iPhone images have been CGI renders, not photos. That said, if this is an old image, why would it have a July 3 date on the email?

Perhaps this image was built in layers and the menu button and speaker hole were from an old version and the layer was never updated.
