Hey gang, I'm a Note 20 Ultra user. I'm an android nerd so I don't know much about iPhones/ios.
That being said my wife has always had iPhones.
She has a new iPhone 13PM 256g that will arrive tomorrow. She's currently using an iPhone XS Max and has about 15000 pictures on it. She does have them backed up to the Verizon cloud (600g free with our unlimited plan).
I'm wondering about the best approach to setting up her new iPhone.
I don't know if she wants to transfer all of her pictures to the new phone or not.
What's the best way.. Phone to phone transfer??
Any insight you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

When you receive the 13 Pro Max the first thing you are gong to want to do is do a software update on the 13 Pro Max. This should be done as the first step. So just setup it up as a new phone and done't transfer over any data from the old phone. Once the software update is done, do a erase all contents. When the phone restarts you can then setup the phone with the data from the old phone. This year I did a iPhone to iPhone transfer and it work flawlessly. There is an option when you first setup the phone where you have a choice on transferring the data to the new phone, one of the options is iPhone to iPhone transfer.

Thanks, will a phone to phone transfer... transfer her pictures over as well?
If so, does it move faster than a cloud backup?
Doing a full back to Verizon cloud took about four days to complete lol.

It will transfer everything fro the old iPhone to the new iPhone. I would also suggest doing a backup to your computer or doing a iCloud backup just in case. I did a backup to me Mac computer as a fall back just in case something went wrong.

Phone to phone transfer is faster. Might recommend using the lightning to USB camera cable with lightning to USB cable. Wired is faster than wireless
