I noticed this afternoon after arriving home and forgetting to turn off cell service on my iPhone (I live in a valley with little or no cell reception) that there is a new status icon right next to the bluetooth indicator.

It looks like an old fashioned handset sitting on a top of couple of rows of dashes. I've never seen this before. I looked at the current iPhone manual and there is no mention of this icon.

Something like this (sorry, no pictures yet as my macro lens is on my film camera). But try to imagine:

I should mention that I do have a BlueAnt bluetooth speakerphone in my car, but it is turned off and I have never noticed this icon before or seen any mention of it.

Oddly, and probably coincidentally, while I have never been able to send text messages from my home before, suddenly I am able to send and receive, although the signal strength bars remain minimal.

Any ideas out there?
