New Iphone Syncing with my Itunes

So I have my ipad apps saved on my itunes. I don't want all those apps to go on to my new iphone when I connect to transfer some songs to my new phone. Can someone explain to me what I need to make sure is checked on my phone or itunes to make sure this works correctly.

With the iphone connected to itunes and selected on the left side of itunes, click on Apps in the "Summary Info Apps Ringtones..." line and uncheck whatever apps you don't want on the iphone, then re-sync.
