To all of you who are experiencing the WiFi/LTE connectivity problem, indeed you have my sympathy. I know I would be frustrated & PO’d beyond reason.
But after a couple of weeks of nearly zero web activity, no news from Apple, near-silence from the rumor sites, and an ongoing & worsening health issue, necessitated that I at least try a new iPhone (10s Max). So I did. Had I not been desperate, I never would have (even) ventured forth.
So I went to the Apple store. Thinking that explaining my serious health issue would somehow affect the matter, I spoke with the store manager. She assured me this connectivity problem was infrequent, stating that were this not the case, she would surely know (but did not proffer data to justify/support her conclusion).
After much agonizing, I went ahead and got the 10s Max, thinking that should it be problematic. I would return it within the grace period and get a different device, probably another iPhone X.
In sum, I did get the (overpriced)10s Max and, AFAIK, it is still problem free. Even so, I suspect it will be a long time before I quit looking for connectivity issues each time I pick it up.
In my case, everything worked as it should, but I still don’t recommend doing such, without making several backups (including that which is/will be on your new phone), keeping a copy of all sales documentation, and accepting the fact that several trips to the Apple store may be in your future. And oh yeah, don’t forget the part that grief and aggravation may be a part, a big part, of the equation.
