I just bought a new XR yesterday and instead of enjoying the new phone I spent the whole day trying to get it to access the App Store.

The problem:
The issue is I after setup I go to the App Store to download apps and it says cannot connect. There is a retry or refresh button under the message. I keep hitting it and nothing.

Things I have tried:
1) it’s not an internet connection issue. I can use safari on the phone just fine

2) My first setup I used the iOS 12 feature to hold the phones next to each other for the setup.

3) I’ve tried multiple factory resets from the settings. I‘ve tried setup as a new phone.

4) after setup if I go to App Store settings my Apple ID is not shown. I click login and enter the password and ID. It’s goes away and then nothing. It still doesn’t show me logged in with my Apple ID. It doesn’t say I entered the wrong password. I know my password.

5) I read I might need to reset my Apple ID. So I tried that but you can’t. I get some message after answering all the questions from Apple that I will receive instructions within 2 days for reset, they can’t tell me when for security reasons, expect and email. Still waiting on that.

6) my last idea was to backup my iPhone 6 on iTunes and I restore from a backup. I keep getting issues saying I don’t have enough space on my hard drive to backup my 6 although I have 71 gig available. My phone is 64. I’m trying to delete some things to make more room. While I’m trying this

Are there Any thoughts as to how to fix this without sound steps 6 & 5?
