new iphone4 wont search for text contacts

Hello everyone, I just got a new iphone 4 today from the Apple store. I LOVE it! But, when I go to send a text message and start typing in the name of who I want to send it to, it will not pull up a potentioal list of contact matches. My husbands Iphone does this perfectly, and we cant figure out the diference in the two. All of the contacts are there in the contacts list.....

any help would be appreciated.
