Guys, picked up another iPhone yesterday as I decided to sell my white 16GB and get a black one. Went in, told them I was an existing customer and wanted a 16GB and they went to the back and got it with no problems. When I got home I was going to update the software and noticed that it already had 2.02 on it. Just giving you guys the 411.

So how much did you pay for your new black iPhone?

I got a week 34 yesterday, had 2.0.1 loaded, they may have upgraded your phone at the store or I suppose they could have started upgrading mid-week.

hmmm.

Do you know someone who has iPhone 3g?
Can you compare 3g reception. Hope that your version have new antenna or something ...

So did you have to sign up for a second contract with AT&T ????

You said you only paid $499. When Apple released the iPhone 3G, they said people who wanted the phone without a contract would have to wait a few months, and that without a contract, it would cost $599 for the 8Gb, and $699 for the 16Gb. So if you only paid $499, then you signed up for a second contract, right?

I got one Thursday with 2.0.1. FYI you can ask your local AT&T but the guy who helped me said you can upgrade if you are not elgible for 100$ more.

No he sold his original and the purchased a new one at full price. Apparently the full price is 499 for the 16g just like it was before it was subsidized.

I believe $399/499 is the "Early Upgrade" price for people who weren't eligible but were still willing to sign a contract. The highest price, $599/699, is for those who don't want to sign a contract whatsoever.
