I'm not able to get UWB on Verizon with my new iPhone 13 Pro. It used to work on my 12 pro max. I swapped the 5G sim between the two.

It looks like a thread has popped up on reddit with other folks reporting it: verizon subreddit link.

Has anyone been able to get it to work on their new 13 or 13 pro?

Interesting. I do not live in an area with UWB, but have not had any issues getting standard 5G in the few places we do have it available—whatever that’s worth.

I went from a 12 PM to the 13 Pro and swapped the SIM as well.

UWB 5G is available only in some select markets. I'm about 35 miles (as the crow flies) from the nearest area supporting UWB. Even in a city like Manhattan, UWB only covers a small part of the area.

You must not have read the linked thread. There is clearly an issue—and there is a way to fix it—but it is a pain in the ass.

You can self-provision the eSim—I did so earlier today. It only takes a few minutes through Verizon’s self-service website. I have seen reports saying that is a valid solution.

I am, unfortunately, not near any UWB areas to test this. I would probably give that a shot and see what happens—no skin off your back and it might save you the frustration of dealing with technical support.

I’m having the same issue, I’m on the phone with Verizon as we speak. When the phone was activated/provisioned it was provisioned with a LTE sim even though its 5G. The phone shows LTE & 5G but my UW is not working And it keeps falling to LTE.

Are any of y’all on eSIM? Or is this solely for those who are swapping physical SIMs?

When I swapped my physical SIM from my 12 PM, I got a message stating that I might not get all features. I didn’t think twice about it before seeing this thread. When I later self-provisioned my eSIM through Verizon’s website, I did go through a full activation process (including getting a notification that my phone was activated and a cellular settings update). I saw that it was a listed solution on one thread.

If someone with the issue using a physical SIM can try this and report back if it solves the issue?

What option did you use to provision the eSim online?

Let it shake out... a few million new phones just joined the world. If my launch day 12 experience is any indication, it took a few days before my device saw the UWB connection that is just a block up from me. After activating my 13 first on physical SIM, and then switched to eSIM tonight, it was also blind to UWB for a bit. Finally got a proper UWB connection late this evening.

I suspect all these new activations, with new IMEIs and plan changes are probably hammering the towers with new registration data.

So you are using a physical sim on the 13?

It's a self-service page.

Go to:

Then navigate to:

"Managing your SIM card"

Section 2 includes a link to where you need to go. Use your IMEI 2 (eSIM) to switch devices--it is the same device but you are swapping SIMs. Enter that in, follow the directions, and you'll be good to go.

iPhone 13PM on VZW eSIM here in Denver, CO. I can confirm I was able to access 5GUWB and even get TMo's 5GUC on the physical SIM as my 2nd connection. Although I've noticed on my iPhone 13, TMo's 5GUC not being labeled as 5GUC like it waS on my iPhone 12PM

I got mine through Apple so I only have eSIM. Is there a way to check if 5G UWB is enabled? On my 12 Pro, 5G would just randomly appear sometimes, and 5GUW was even more rare. I don’t know which specific locations though, so I can’t exactly try a solid test, unfortunately. I just want to make sure all 4 of our new phones have been set up properly.

Ive been looking through *3001#12345#* < insert into your phone pad click call, it will pull your bands and status. Unfortunately, I don’t know how to interpret the details...

Today I noticed mine switched to 5G while I was picking something up from the Apple Store. Haven’t noticed any UW yet.

Anyone get this text today?
