Hi There Guys,

Just thought You'd be interested to see one of my iPod Nano mock-ups (this is how I think its going to look like). I'm following 9to5Mac's guideline. Think its going to be roughly the same thickness of the current model (maybe a tinny bit thinner?) and same design but with 2 new colors added to the family: white and orange, hmmm not shure about the white, it's just a guess.

Well hope you guys like it!!
Please give your remarks on it.

if you take an inch off the height of the nano it leaves a little more space then that between the wheel and edges, and i think instead of enlarging the screen they will simply widen it

but thats a decent mock-up to what i also think it will look like

Hey Macster... just for giggles, could you make another mock nano for me, but turn the screen the long way (so you would have to turn it to watch video). I'm not sure how the dimensions would work out, but I want to see what the nano would look like with a 16:9 ratio screen, shifted vertically, and keeping close to the current shape. Maybe a little wider or longer to get the biggest screen possible.

I would do it myself if I knew my way around photoshop...

Thanks!

I think it looks pretty good. better than 9to5Mac's mock-up. The proportions on yours is better, er something. Something just doesnt 'feel' right with 9to5Mac's. I think on yours though the click wheel is too close to the bottom, you need to have room for the dock! but overall it looks good.

Maybe you should make the color brown, like the brown Zune. Surely Apple will follow in M$'s footsteps cause Apple couldn't let M$ get all the credit for ugly MP3 players!!!

i dont think the nano will ever play movies though because its marketed towards people who just want to listen to music while they workout

You did a good job graphically. I personally.... (I really mean personally... I don't do mockups I just talk about what may be down the road a little and what it may/should look like. I personally HATE mockups of every and any kind that don't take much effort to create.) don't like mockups, but the work you have is clean, and that is a lot to ask for from many of the mockups done by the general public.

Give me a nano that is cheaper with more storage, or give me a nano with no click wheel and a screen the size of the entire thing and I will be happy. In my wildest dreams... give me a nano that has the screen rolled up into the body. I pull the screen out half way and I can access my music, watch a movie on a small screen, or play games then tuck the screen back in. When I want to watch a movie full screen I can pull out the whole thing and watch it on a 4" x 7" (I know my math is off) widescreen. The screen would lock into place at any position and the image would adjust itself accordingly.

That whole idea sucks and is plagued with problems but it is innovative and it sounds like Apple. :apple::D

good, but bad too

It's good... but Apple will never release a product without thinking of how a consumer would use the product. The bottom should be extended so that it's easier for people to navigate. Should it be this short, it's not as comfortable using the touchwheel as compared to the current model. Remember, each new update of a product should be PROGRESS not backwards.

Very nice mockup! But, if the Nano became a video player, that's just Apple allowing consumers to buy a cheaper, more colorful video iPod while the original ipod video is still on the market

Anyways, I like your PhotoShop skills!

I love how people think new products are going to overstep on current products.

The video nano would be for those who want to store only a few videos on for occasional views. This would be released in conjuction with the wide-screen video iPod.

If anything it maybe a little thicker because it is a video playing devices. So lets say 2mm thicker or so.

Why? but it has the same flash memory [4GB $199, 8GB $259 (16GB?????)]

Apple could always use iPhone type docks (with a cut down at the front).

And yeah you're right about :apple: and MS, apple wouldn't give all the credit to Bill Gates!;):D

But if Apple is going to make a widescreen iPod, then the nano players video would be inferior, both in quality and quantity. Don't you agree? Anyway, It will have the same capacity as the current generation. (4GB and 8GB, 16GB maybe??)

Thanks for the remark on the Photoshop skills!:p

Here you have it ado! Its a little longer 'cos of the larger screen bit it looks ok.
I prefer the first one though!

Don't you mean the SHUFFLE?

I agree. I can't see the Nano being used for anything other than mini-photo viewing and music. The big iPod will always do it all and the Nano won't. The Shuffle is gods gift to people who go out on adventures.

It can't possibly be any thinner or they would have to ditch the 3,5 mm connector. Since it is primarily a music player, I just cannot see that happening.

Very nice mockup Macster, but I think it will be more like this:

(Made by M67)

But the clickwheel would have to rotate somehow. I was thinking that maybe the icons could be backlit, and the backlight would change the position of the icons, depending on which way up you are holding it. (not very well explained)

Wow!! I'm impressed, VERY impressed!! Nice Photoshopping!

Its Good in all but not amazingly hard.

you're pretentious attitude is annoying.
you don't need to shoot down on anybodys work because it's "not hard" it's a work of art that somebody thought up and executed well. it doesn't need to be amazingly hard to be good, so dont put the person down.

thats all i have to say about that.

Cheers for the support! I must agree with Tom B, with lefties there would need to be a sensor (like iphone) or at least a setting to change orientation, which would then change the way the screen is displayed and also chang the buttons, maybe something like the Optimus Maxumus (led keyboard)

http://www.artlebedev.com/everything/optimus/

What if there were no icons at all on the wheel? Or would the sensor mess up the orientation? Or would they really have to make it sense the direction in the first place? :)
