Managed to grab an iPod touch 2nd generation off ebay, jailbroke it and now serves as my jukebox for my car (via bluetooth )and room (via airplay). iOS 4.2.1 runs pretty good surprisingly. It's refreshing to go back to a time where there isn't any multitasking.

Battered and bruised yes, but still very useful.

Cool story, bro...:D I recently had one return to me after after disappearing for a few years. I was really happy to see it mostly because I really dig the case it's in. The pic doesn't do it justice. The graphic is raised like a wood cut.

I used mine for the first time in a long time last week and forgot how "deep" displays used to be compared to new ones where the LCD is closer to you finger. That said, at the time I couldn't really see the difference with the new screen tech.

That and how much difference the retina display makes, man.

I've still got one of mine still ticking and in use almost daily (8GB MB model). I put Whited00r on it to speed it up a bit and be able to run older apps that have since moved on or are now unsupported on iOS 3. It's primary use is to stream Pandora and host some games for the kids.

The thing just doesn't die and the battery amazingly still holds a very good charge. It's a shame my 3rd gen died after only a year. But it got replaced with the 4G when it came out and is still my main media player since my 16GB 4S doesn't hold a candle to the 64GB on the iPod.

Congratulations on the purchase. I have several iPod Touches and enjoy them all. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an updated, larger-screened iPod Touch 6. If so, I'll be the first in line.

I think the iPod shouldn't grow too large.. 4.7 inches would be sweet. The target demographic still is the young generation.. Putting a cellular radio into a touch would exponentially increase its usage scenarios.. but then it would cannibalize the ipad mini.. Maybe it's time the iPod touch reincarnated itself as the iPad Nano..?

That case looks cool :)
