At nighttime I use earpods connected to a bluetooth transmitter in order to get sound from my tv, I have used this setup for several years and have gone thru several sets of earpods, having to solder on new jack in order to get them working with a regular 3.5 minijack.
The problem now is that I can't get the new earpods to work, they give me more "tinny" sound then it should be, the old earpods work fine.
I've tried an TRSS to minijack adapter, but this also gives me "tinny" sound.
Is there a different wiring scheme with the latest 3.5mm earpods?.
I've soldered the following way:
Red wire -> Audio Right
Green wire -> Audio Left
Green+Gold -> Ground
Red+Gold -> Ground
The rest of the wires I believe is mic related so I cut them off.
Anyone know what's wrong?

Turned out that three sets of earpods where defective, the fourth one worked fine
