Hello,

I'm looking into replacing the guts of my keyboard in my 2009 macbook pro a1286, it is experiencing a stuck shift problem that is caused by the guts below the keys. I am curious to hear if this is possible without buying the entire bottom half of the computer from a supplier. I just talked with a mac tech guy and he said he wasn't aware of any other way of doing it. I'm ready to buy the tools and guts, take my computer apart and replace it myself. Is this possible, and worth my effort, or am I going to turn this computer into a giant paper weight?
Thank you!

I just checked out iFixit for ya, and it seems to be riveted into place. Getting it out would be a pain, and putting a new one is near impossible. You'd be best off just getting a whole new top case for your specific model Macbook Pro
