New keyboard with different F keys, remapping help please!

I have just had to replace the keyboard on my son's MBP and it is one of the first C2D ones with the old function key layout on the keyboard. I was not able to get a replacement with the old layout so have one of the later ones. Does anyone know how I can update it to have the newer layout? I am guessing it is possible (read 'hoping'!). Cheers.
