I was wondering why i was adding so many unintentional periods when I type!

They shortened the space bar to make room for the period.

Nitpicky I know but was this really necessary???

You talking about Safari's keyboard, when typing an address/search? It's cos URLs often have dots... hold it to get domain extensions too.

I noticed this too, it's really annoying but fortunately mainly during google searches and it's good enough at guessing what I was typing.

Oh you're right, just for safari. I guess that makes sense but it's caused many typos during google searches.

Not a huge problem, just another new thing to get used to

At least it's not a much bigger ".com" button that was there in earlier betas and got in the way quite a bit more.

Yes. Same here.. So annoying.. I couldn't understand why this has been happening to me since Beta 3 until like a week ago when I compared Safari iOS 6 and iOS 7.. I feel stupid knowing it took me this long to realize the space bar had shortened.

It's.combetter.com.than.comthis :D

Really either are poor. Oddly I never had the .com issue..

Surely they could reduce the width of this key to be the same as the dictation key, thus increasing the width of the space bar?

its already that size it seems. I think the bigger issue for most is that it's in the right side of the space bar and a lot of people use their right thumb to tap on space usually closer to its right edge.

Me too. Although I reckon the volume of iOS7 traffic plus Google's adaptability to common errors means that we'll get just as good results with periods between words as we do with spaces after a while anyway!

Has anyone worked out of there is a shortcut for typing a "/" in the URL without having to bring up the supplementary keyboard punctuation?
