New Laptop iPhoto folder

Hi forum,

So let's say I back a new Macbook in the not so distant future. I want it to remain a clean install and not put my time machine back-up on it. Can I then simply copy my iPhoto folder over and replace the new and empty one? Or will this go wrong somehow since it is a different machine?
