Sounds likely that iphone will evolve in that direction. The iPad like features are most likely for when using it in docked mode or for the fold phone. I'm guessing that iPadOS and iOS will merge into one OS again in the future.

Another thought around "docked" mode.
If this will become available it will be, at least initially, a bit difficult to make a phone without any ports/connectors. That's me assuming it will connect to a dock using USB-C/TB.
Maybe the dock solution will be made available for TB enabled phones only for better performance.

This is no leak whatsoever or any indication that this is coming in 27, it‘s just further cementing how iPadOS is nothing more than iOS with a slightly different coat of paint and more functionality unlocked.

Anyone who ever thought iPadOS is its own thing (and not just iOS with a different name) is delusional.

While I don’t see the appeal for splitscreen and floating windows on a small screen - I’d still applaud the functionality.
Especially to “force” Apps to continue their tasks (downloading, syncing) while you can do something else on your phone.

I think Apple really needs to work on its keyboard and make that smarter.
Maybe add the option for a numbers row and more personalisation.

All I am saying is that if a docked mode such as stage manager/DeX is about to be released we won't see portless iphones.
That doesn't necessarily mean they can't do it portless. You are probably right for a first gen device, but on an infinite timescale...
