Hi everyone. I've been doing lots of reading but haven't seen a situation or resolution that covers what I'm looking for.

My situation:
I consolidated my iTunes library last year onto an external HD so that my husband and I could sync to the same one. Worked well for awhile, then it got hosed one day and we ended up with nested libraries files inside other library folders. Long story short, it reached critical mass over the weekend, and I decided to create a brand new library on the TimeMachine. I needed a good, clean library to sync our new iPad to.

Everything is there: music (sans ratings--bummer), apps, etc. So that's not a problem. My question is about how to save the data associated with my apps. Example: Clinks has a record of all the wine I've tasted, notes about it, ratings, etc. My understanding is that if I sync my iPhone with the new library that just contains the Clinks app, it's going to erase all of the associated data that I have stored on my phone.

Is this something where I need to retrieve my iPhone backup file and do something with it? What and when? Thanks for any wisdom you can impart on me.
