So my MBP (SR) had the GPU die on me (yay Nvidia!. Stupid 8600GT) and it is out of warranty. So I am replacing the Logic Board on my own because Apple wants to charge $1300 to replace it. I already have a replacement at my house sitting there until I get the thermal paste from iFixit in the mail.

So here we go. I am pretty darn sure I can do this as I am no noob when it comes to fiddling with computer hardware. But there is one thing I am not sure about which is applying the thermal paste. The board is used (yes I know I am taking a risk but I can't afford anything else atm and need the computer repaired asap) so it has some thermal paste still on it. Yes, I know I can't use it.

so the question is do I scrape off (gently of course) the old thermal paste? And it would be great if you could offer some tips/directions on applying new paste (mostly concerned about how much to apply).

Thanks guys
