I was checking through all of my settings in System Preferences after downloading Lion and found that there is a new app in Login Items which was not there prior to downloading Lion.

Prion to Lion, I had nothing in the the Login Items list ("these items open automatically when you log in"). The new item is SpeechSynthesisServer and is listed as an Application. Checking my Applications folder, and SpeechSynthesisServer is not in the folder.

Is this something that comes with Lion? like a pre-installed app. If yes, why doesn't it appear in my Applications folder.

I'm worried it is some kind of trojan or other malware.

Thanks, in advance, for any info on this. :D

found via using "SpeechSynthesisServer" as search term

Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry I didn't do the Search myself :p

I read the thread, but I'm still not clear on one thing: If I delete SpeechSynthisizerServer in Login, will I still be able to use Text to Speech function. I don't need Speech to Text, and I don't need the clock to talk to me.

Sorry if I didn't understand something I should have understood in the thread to which you sent me. Just a little slow

Edit: In the thread it said that the app uses a lot of CPU - so if I don't need it, I would delete it from Login.
