New Logitech mouse wont work with my iBook

I just bought a $15 Logitech optical mouse from down the street (some little hole-in-the-wall computer store) for use with my iBook and it wont work.

Before I attempt to get the store to take it back (no doubt they'll give me some trouble) I just wanted to check with you guys if I need to enable it or something? Is there some option I need to check?

Being USB I thought it would just work, like everything else in my experience.

can you give a model number? I have a logitech and it works ok.

have you tried it in another machine? mac or pc?

I tried it on my roomie's PC notebook and it worked fine so I'm guessing it was a compatibility issue. I swapped it over for a Microsoft one no hassles and it's working fine...
