New Low-end (2.0) macbook does NOT have backlit keyboard... proof...

So I ordered the 2.0 and just like everyone else that bought it in the US and Canada online, when configuring the options it automatically said "backlit keyboard english"

But when I got the confirmation of my order, it says this:

No "backlit" in the keyboard part of the config!

Even though people have been saying apple reps have said on the 2.0 there is backlit, here is proof i think... plus, I think there is noooo way that steve messed up on his slide on the keynote, there is no way that those slides would not be double checked a million times. Plus there are multiple places on the site that show (ex. in the tech specs) that only the 2.4 has a backlit keyboard
 
yea when you click select below the notebook config it goes to this customization page. On the right, it lists the specs and on the 2.0ghz model, it says backlit keyboard.

That's one reason I'm not jumping ship to the new MacBook/Pros just yet. I want to wait until all the wrinkles have been ironed out before I spend 2K on a macbook pro and another 900 for the 24" ACD LED display.

Apple FINALLY fixed its order page for the 2.0 -- it DOESN't have a backlit keyboard.

I found that when I printed the specs on the release date. I checked back just now and they fixed it! Now I got to find a kit to replace the keyboard, lol!
 
I just called and would have to return and reorder or they gave me a Wireless Mighty Mouse and and Ipod shuffle for free. I thought about returning it but I was not sure how much I would use the back light... The Apple people were really nice.

grrrr,, petition plz

i think everyone should sign a petition to get the backlit keyboard fr the entry level next gen macbook and it doesn't have to be for free. even a 50 dollar upgrade would work but hwy screw people over. first no firewire and now this. grrr...:mad:grrrrawrrrr.... steve jobs prepare to see a mob at ur house tommorow
 
I bought new Macbook it is great!

I bought the new Macbook and found few bugs and they were fixed with the software update. BTW doesn't everyone know that only the high end Macbook has a backlit keyboard. DUH!

Oh yea? Yea i'm not pissed at all or anything, I totally knew that the 2.0 didn't have backlit. But when I recieve it I'm definitely going to call and see if I can get anything out of it that'd be pretty cool.

So, by returning it, you mean... returning the 2.0 and they'd give you the 2.4 at no extra charge?

Like if you had an option of returning the 2.0 and get nothing, or keep it and get a wireless mighty mouse and a shuffle, why would you not pick the second?

Obviously you don't know anything about sales, they want to persuade you to go for the 2.4 with the added 90gbs in hard drive and .4 ghz in processor... you can't blame them for trying to make more money, that's stupid

No I would have to return 2.0 for a refund than buy the 2.4... I do not think I would use the black light to much so when they offered free stuff I took it.

Yea, I called today and the girl sent me out a 2.4ghz because I called and complained very nicely that I thought the 2.0 had backlit. I obviously had to pay full, but she offered me upto a $150 credit... and then I was like... well I want these bose speakers in the apple store can I get those instead? Tthey were $169 with tax and she said yes :D I think that's an amazing deal! I'm very happy with their customer support.

So they sent out the 2.4 already with the speakers, and also the 2.0 is on its way since when I called it had already shipped, so once I get the 2.0 I send it back with the prepaid package and they will refund my credit card!
 
Do you guys think there is any way to add a backlit keyboard ourselfs to the mid-end macbook?

I wish they would give it to us as an option for 50 $ or something....
