Apple's new M4 MacBook Air launches today, and Amazon has launch day discounts worth $50 across nearly every model. You'll need to clip an on-page coupon in order to see these deal prices at checkout, and Best Buy is matching many of these deals if you're a My Best Buy Plus/Total member.

13-Inch M4 MacBook Air

Starting with the 13-inch models, Amazon has $50 off all three of the new configurations of this notebook. Prices start at $949.00 for the 256GB model, then raise to $1,149.00 for the 16GB/256GB model and $1,349.00 for the 24GB/512GB model. Best Buy is matching these deals for members.

Note: You won't see the deal price until checkout.

15-Inch M4 MacBook Air

Moving to the larger display models, Amazon has both 512GB versions of the 15-inch M4 MacBook Air on sale for launch day. The 16GB/512GB model is available for $1,349.00 and the 24GB/512GB model is on sale for $1,549.00, both $50 discounts.

Note: You won't see the deal price until checkout.

The only new M4 MacBook Air that Amazon does not have a discount for is the 256GB 15-inch MacBook Air, so if that's the one you're shopping for you'll need to look at Best Buy. At that retailer, My Best Buy Plus/Total members can get the computer for $1,149.00, down from $1,199.00.

Minor edit suggestion to the OP/MacRumors editor . . . this "raise to $1,149.00 for the 16GB/256GB model" should be edited to the 16GB/512GB model.

This happens frequently. Expect larger discounts ($100-$200 based on configuration) from other resellers in a few weeks.

It’s weird seeing launch day discounts when not long ago there were never discounts. Apple would expect you to buy an outdated, five year old Time Capsule at full price.

Lol. Why even bother buying directly from Apple when Amazon ALWAYS have discounts?

Buying direct from Apple:

1. You can custom order the laptop with the memory, hard drive specs you want.
2. You can use the Apple Card and get 0% financing for 12 months.
3. You can get it today at an Apple Store.
4. You can get the education discount of about 10%.

Apple is not discounting. This is a discount from Amazon. It's a token discount to get people buying the base models to buy from Amazon rather than Apple or Best Buy.

Plus, your parcel is not going to be stolen. I don’t by anything expensive at Amazon to this reason.

I’m tempted to trade-in my 15 inch M2 Air because the 256GB of storage is killing me, but I made a resolution to make no unnecessary purchases for the first 6 months of this year. But it’s tempting.

All valid points, thanks for putting this together.

In the case of a base product without an edu discount for which you pay cash I don't see the reason. On Amazon it seems there is even a longer return window, isn't it?

I think that 16/512 is truly a sweet spot for Air/Macbook Pro. I have now M3 Macbook Pro with 512GB and the larger storage is really useful. My desktop has 5TB of storage, but 0.5TB on Macbook is actually very enough.

Read the edu rules. You can be charged up any moment Apple decides to check if you're eligible.
interesting. Been doing it for years. never charged. I know Apple did start checking few years back but it lasted for a few months because they reversed their policies. I think they do check in the UK tho.
