Just bought a new MacBook Pro. I set up my old Mac as a drive, hooked it to the new laptop and dragged most stuff over. However, it claims my old version of Address Book (4.1.2) isn't compatible. How can I transfer my contacts over? I tried synching my iPhone and the contacts didn't migrate. I tried the same thing unsuccessfully with my iCal (3.0.8).

Ha, embarrassed to say this but all it took was a simple import/export for both. The guy at the genius bar told me to manually drag everything from my old laptop to the destination on the new laptop. This worked for iTunes, iPhoto, etc. but not address or iCal. Simple export/import did, though, even though the drop and drag attempt said they were incompatible with my new laptop.
